Stepwise Guide to turn your Idea into a Successful Startup

Everyone has ideas; only a few nurtures and improves them to a reality.

Congratulations to you as you want to implement your idea and see what it takes.

For some entrepreneurs, startups would’ve been a kickstart in their life and for others, it would’ve been the worst phase of life. There’s no magic to identify which one you'll be until you begin working on it. Hence, get started now!

With your strong courage and confidence, you could really achieve your dreams. Though, it’s not just enough to make your startup a success. You need to be disciplined about every step you’ll take forward.

In this article, I will help you with ‘how to start, where to start,’ ‘what to do,’ and more.

Step 1: Have your business plan ready

Creating a vague outline as a Word doc in your desktop is not a proper business plan.

Take a pen, paper & WRITE! Yes, you heard it right.

Start with the vision & mission of your business. It would show the overall purpose of your startup.

Then, write a brief description of your business plan. If you fail to do the same, that means that you don’t have a clear vision of your plan.

Being done with that, I’ve listed many checklists below to be written down.

  • the problems your customers are facing
  • the solutions your startup will provide
  • how your startup is unique from others
  • a detailed description of your product, team, strengths & weaknesses
  • a detailed description of your competitors’ product, strengths & weaknesses
  • the initial amount you are investing in and other financial sources to run the business

Writing these will give you better clarity on starting your business. Don’t hurry up at this stage, seek relevant details, document them, and then let’s move on further.

Step 2: Define your target audience

Most startup fails because of marketing their product to EVERYONE. Doing this will decrease the conversion rate and increase marketing expenses. This happens when you aren’t specific about who your customers are.

To avoid this, have a clearly defined target audience. You have to drill down precisely based upon different parameters like gender, age, location, etc.

With this data, you will know whom to and not to target. This not only saves you money but also saves the efforts you do in marketing.

Step 3: Develop a brand for your business

It’s time to tell your customers who you are and what your product does in the name of ‘branding'.

Build your brand via your startup name, logo, websites, marketing strategies, and so on. Also, make sure the colors used in your business to be monochromatic. It’s way more important than you think. It creates visual interest and makes people focus on your content.

Everything in short, branding is the business identity and so make your identity easily recognizable.

Step 4: Choose the right team

Your startup and plans can be outstanding but whether your business succeeds or fails majorly depend upon the employees. Hence, choose cleverly.

The employees’ experiences and academics really don’t matter. What really matters is that their passion and efforts towards their domain. Each and every employee should be the greatest contributor to your organization.

Besides, if you are looking to outsource your web or mobile application with companies or freelancers, read this carefully. Many spammers are out there who can be a disaster for your business. Hence, hire people only after researching well about them - portfolio, customer reviews & testimonials.

Step 5: Set up your workplace

An organized office not only helps run the business efficiently but also boosts team spirit. A clean, creative, and structured environment will appeal to the customers whenever they stop by.

Making your office ready doesn’t mean putting up sticky notes and growing plants at the office desk. Of course, these are awesome ideas but your priority must be on optimizing daily work processes, tracking reports & insights, and so on.

Every business must have better real-time visibility. Confused? Let me explain it shortly. Whenever you or your employees need to access any data, it must be instantly available anytime and anywhere. This way you can make the decisions immediately.

Nowadays, many office management CRM software are available to automate daily office norms, show customer insights, and incorporate needed details in a smooth way.

Very few businesses will not need software based out of their industries. So before buying one, find out if your startup needs a CRM or not.

Step 6: Promote your business, the right way

Start promoting your product way before you launch it. Begin with your website - explain about your product, post informative articles, mention giveaways, discounts, free trial, etc.

Once people visit your website, keep them engaging with more and more content. Ensure that the content is informative, interesting, and make it worth visiting. Doing this will help in google page rankings too.

Apart from that, take advantage of discussion forums, social media, and start advertising.

As we all know, the very first and the last thing people do in a day is scrolling Facebook, Instagram, and other social media. Why not socialize your business? Without a second thought, go appear in their news feed by promoting campaigns, ads, etc.

That’s it!

Following these steps will be the greatest kickstart for your business. Once you’ve started working on it, you will take further steps towards your wonderful startup journey.

Believe your journey :)
